All About Taxes
Your sensitive data is fully protected. AdMint NEVER sees your SSN, EIN, or full tax ID — we only see masked identifiers (e.g., ***-**-1234). Even our staff cannot access this information. Tax1099 acts as a secure intermediary, handling all sensitive data directly.
As a publisher earning money through AdMint, you will be required to provide tax documentation. This page explains everything you need to know about tax requirements, forms, and thresholds.
Do I Need to Submit Tax Forms?
Tax form requirements depend on your location:
| Location | Form Required | When Required |
|---|---|---|
| United States 🇺🇸 | W-9 | Before first payout |
| International 🌍 | W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E | Before first payout |
Why do we need this? As a US-based company, AdMint is required by the IRS to collect tax information from all publishers before issuing payments.
US Publishers (W-9)
If you’re a US person (citizen, green card holder, or US-based LLC), you’ll need to complete a W-9 form.
What is a W-9?
The W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) is an IRS form used to collect your:
- Legal name
- Business type (individual, LLC, corporation, etc.)
- Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN)
- Address
We collect this data so we can file a 1099-NEC at the end of the year if we pay you more than the reporting threshold.
How to Submit
- When you request your first payout, you’ll receive an email from Tax1099.com (our tax form provider)
- Follow the link to complete your W-9 electronically
- Once verified, your payout will be processed
International Publishers (W-8BEN)
If you’re located outside the United States, you’ll need to complete a W-8BEN form (or W-8BEN-E for companies/entities).
What is a W-8BEN?
The W-8BEN (Certificate of Foreign Status) certifies that you are not a US person for tax purposes. The IRS requires this proof so we don’t have to withhold 30% of your earnings for the US government.
You will provide:
- Your foreign tax ID (from your home country)
- A declaration of your permanent residence
How to Submit
- When you request your first payout, you’ll receive an email from Tax1099.com
- Follow the link to complete your W-8BEN (individuals) or W-8BEN-E (companies) electronically
- Provide your tax identification number from your home country
- Once verified, your payout will be processed
Form 1099-NEC (End-of-Year Reporting)
The 1099-NEC is the form AdMint sends to the IRS every January to report payments made to US publishers.
Who Gets One?
Any US publisher we paid above the reporting threshold in the previous calendar year.
2026 Threshold Changes (One Big Beautiful Bill Act)
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBBA), signed into law on July 4, 2025, significantly increased the reporting threshold to reduce paperwork for small earners.
| Year | Reporting Threshold |
|---|---|
| 2025 and earlier | $600 |
| 2026 onwards | $2,000 |
| 2027+ | Inflation-indexed (rounded to nearest $100) |
What this means for you:
- ✅ If you earn less than $2,000 in 2026, you will not receive a 1099-NEC
- ✅ Far fewer publishers will receive tax forms
- ✅ Less paperwork for casual earners
Deadline
1099-NEC forms are sent to publishers and the IRS by January 31st following the tax year.
Note: Even if you don’t receive a 1099-NEC, you are still responsible for reporting all income on your tax return.
What If My Form Is Rejected?
If there’s an issue with your tax form submission, you’ll receive an email explaining what needs to be corrected. Common issues include:
- Signature missing or illegible
- Name doesn’t match tax ID records
- Invalid or missing tax identification number
